❓ Are there any extra discounts for Babington students?

Yep! 10% off for existing Babington Education students. 🎊

❓ When can I expect the receive the published book?

About 1 month from the last date of class. Lots of work goes into publishing a book! You probably know there's illustration work, but there are also lots of things you don't see, like editing, illustration, page make-up, and graphics design, all of which take a long time and are expensive!

❓ Who owns the copyright?

Student Owns the Copyright

  • How It Works: The student (via their parent/guardian) retains full copyright ownership of their story.
  • Implications:
The student has the right to reproduce, distribute, and adapt their work in the future.
Enrolling in this course grants Babington Education Organisation Limited a non-exclusive license to publish and sell their story as an e-book and/or printed book through our Student Bookshop.

Why This Works:

  • Empowers Students: It gives them full control over their creative work.
  • Encourages Participation: Students will feel more motivated knowing they own their story.
❓ How does the royalty work?

The royalty split between an author and publisher can vary widely depending on the type of publishing, the format of the book, and the specific agreement. Here’s a breakdown of typical royalty splits for different publishing models:

Traditional Publishing

In traditional publishing, the publisher covers all costs (editing, design, printing, marketing, and distribution), and the author receives royalties based on sales.

Print Books (Hardcover/Paperback):
Author Royalty:
10%–15% of the book’s retail price (hardcover) or 7.5%–10% (paperback).
Publisher Share: 85%–90% (hardcover) or 90%–92.5% (paperback).

Your child will retain full copyright ownership of their story. Enrolling in this course grants Babington Education Organisation Limited a non-exclusive license to publish and sell their story as an e-book and/or printed book through our Student Bookshop. Your child will receive 20% of the gross revenue from each copy sold. Considering the low print volume creating extremely low margins, this is effectively a non-profit endeavour designed to allow the student to gain the full experience of being an author.

❓ What is included in the e-book creation lesson?

This skill is not only practical but also empowering for young writers. This lesson will not be conducted by Head Master Finn but by our in-house technical expert. The lesson will be conducted in English.

❓ Can my child publish more than one book?

Yes! Enrolled students get priority access to produce a sequel or additional stories after completing the course. This is a great way to keep their creativity flowing.
